What materials do I use for Alcohol Ink Paintings?
Hi friends! I am so excited to launch my new website and blog! I get so many questions about my materials and process. I will use this blog to share some tips and techniques!
To kick things off I am going to share some of the materials that I use to create my paintings. I love experimenting with all sorts of mediums but I have really zeroed in on alcohol inks for most of my work! I love the way that the inks can create tiny worlds of detail all within a painting! They have a mind of their own and can be hard to master but once you do find a balance of manipulating the inks as well as letting them flow you can create stunning paintings.
So here we go! Here is a list of some of the materials that I use to create alcohol ink paintings!
99% Isopropyl Alcohol
Alcohol inks:
Copic Ink Refills
Brea Reese Alcohol Inks
Tim Holtz Ranger Inks
Pinata Inks (especially their metallics)
Surfaces must be Non Porous:
Yupo Paper ( I use the brand Legion)
Tiles
Clayboard
A Heat gun or Hair Dryer
For sealing:
Kamar Varnish
Art Resin
I hope that was helpful for you all! Feel free to drop in the comments and ask me any questions you have about my materials!
